United - Villa 4-0

A goal and 3 assists from United's best player this season Cristiano Ronaldo, was enough to destroy Villa.United playing as true Champions in pouring rain didn't just get the job done but triumphed showing to all pretenders of the title that they are not going to give up a 5 point lead at this late stage of the season.Cristiano Ronaldo's outrageous flick started the agony for Aston Villa after 17 minutes and he provided Carlos Tevez with a simple second before half-time.Wayne Rooney rounded Scott Carson for a third after 53 minutes and he slid home the fourth with 20 minutes left after more superb creativity from Ronaldo.

Pre-Match: United - Villa

Obviously better than Liverpool, even before Mascherano's dismissal, United won comfortably and now sit alone at the top of the Barclays Premier League 5 points ahead of second-placed Chelsea. This Saturday United will be entertaining Aston Villa with the Champions' League's Quarterfinal first leg against Roma coming next.Midfielder Fletcher got injured in Scotland's midweek international friendly and will be out for 6 weeks. With Neville and Silvestre already out with long term injuries Fergie will be lining up the same squad as last week.Villa wil have a very unpleasant evening at Old Trafford though they see central defender Mellberg come back after serving a ban.

United - Pool 3-0

Going into this game United had to defend a 3-point lead at the top of Barclays Premier league.Liverpool were in great form but in this game United showed who's the boss. The deadlock was broken in the 34th minute when Rooney's curling cross into the box was met by the unlikely figure of Wes Brown - who reached it before Reina and saw his header drop into the net.Nani's 79th-minute corner was headed home by Ronaldo - and two minutes later Nani created space for himself on the edge of the box to blast in the third.Following Chelsea's win over Arsenal leaves United with a 5-point lead with 7 games to the end of the season and makes them the favourite to lift the Premier League for a second time in a row.

Cristiano Ronaldo-Bolton 2-0

Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo were enough to put United at the top of the league on a three point difference from second placed Arsenal.United dominated possession from the start and after nine minutes they took the lead.Bolton failed to clear a corner from Nani, and after a chaotic goalmouth scramble Ronaldo hooked the ball into the net. Ronaldo killed off the game with a typically majestic strike after 19 minutes when he was brought down 31 yards out from the Bolton goal. Although he was hobbling after the foul, he gave Bolton keeper Ali Al Habsi no chance with his low dipping dead-ball expertise.

Man Utd:
Kuszczak , Hargreaves , Pique , Vidic (Brown 60, ), O'Shea , Ronaldo , Fletcher , Anderson (Scholes 70, ), Nani , Tevez , Saha (Rooney 70, ).

Next two fixtures are very important

With only 9 games till the end of the season United have the upper hand on Arsenal since they have the same points(67) and a game in hand. The results of the next two fixtures of the Premier League will be very much important to which club will be crowned champions.United play on Wednesday against Bolton at home, a game they should win if they want to take advantage of Arsenal's latest bad results. On Sunday 23 of March United play at home against Liverpool whilst Arsenal travel to neighbours Chelsea on what promises to be an exciting afternoon. We may very well be 6 points ahead of the rest on Sunday night.
